“Clocks and watches are precise and coordinated. The watch repairers best symbolize the craftsmanship. I believe that, there are few apparatus and equipment demanding more strictly than clocks and watches. With a lack of key technology in manufacturing instrument, I failed and went bankrupt.”

    Jiang Xipei, the Founder, Board Chairman and Party Secretary of Far East Holding Group Co., Ltd., said in the program “For the Chinese Industry Endorsement” (a show of CCTV Finance Channel). Perhaps, because of previous failure, he attaches more importance than ordinary entrepreneurs to quality for Chinese industry.

    Wuxi Merchants: Industry Based and Innovation First

    Seek industrial tradition and revitalize the real economy. As the cradle of China’s national industry, Wuxi is the third station of “For the Chinese Industry Endorsement”. On April 11, over ten well-known entrepreneur representatives shared their sotry of revitalizing real entreprises and advised for Chinese real economy in China Silk Industry Museum on the Nanchang Street.

    When it comes to development of Wuxi merchants, we have to date back to the beginning of the 20th century. From the founder of the first modern enterprise—Yeqin cotton mill in 1895 to the eve of Anti-Japanese War in 1937, Wuxi had been one of the six industrial centres in China with total number of workers next to Shanghai, which owed to deligence and exploration of Wuxi merchants.

    In recent years, Wuxi merchants with private enterpreneurs as the mainstay have adhered spirits and dreams of predecessors. Private economy in Wuxi has been a remarkable part of Jiangsu Provice under their leadership. At present, the construction of strong industry in the industry has been significant. In 2016, Wuxi"s scalable industrial output value exceeded RMB 1.5 trillion, with scalable industrial added value RMB 307.549 billion, an increase of 5.8%; 13 companies shortlisted top 500 enterprises in China and 22 companies shortlisted top 500 manufacturing enterprises in China. Two finalists for 10 consecutive years ranked first in Jiangsu Province.

    Looking back on century property, the brilliant achievements of the Wuxi merchants are inseparable from the spirit "pioneering and brave, tough and fortitude, virtuous and sympathetic, serving the country," passed on and innovated by generations.

    Far East: Inventive Mind and Customer First

    Founded in 1985, Far East Holding Group is a microcosm of the development of Wuxi merchants after the reform and opening up, while it cannot be copied. The story springs from the ups and downs of the electrical and plastics plant.

    Failed in the College Entrance Examination, he got married and had children with money earn by repairing watches. Then he chose to set up clock spare parts production plant in hometown instead of being easy and ordinary, but failed for lack of key equipment technologies of instrument.  Just when Jiang Xipei was in trouble, his eldest brother pointed a way out to do the business of electric wires. Jiang Xipei decided to make a comeback with borrowed money and created Fandao electrical and plastics factory, with determination to lead local villagers to get rich, which is the predecessor of Far East Holding Group.

    Craftmanship rises from the pursuit of quality, but it is difficult to develop fast. Quality is the key to market, and only high quality productions can be equal to customers’trust, which Jiang have realized and maintained for 30 years when Far East has led the industry. Currently, Far East Cable is the only national quality award winner in the industry and wins national iconic key projects such as Shanghai World Financial Center, Shenzhou-11 and Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

    Jiang Peixi: Quality is the Life of Industry

    Every entrepreneur brought a story or an object about their business, and Jiang Peixi, the Founder of Far East, was not an exception, telling a story of cooperation between Far East Cable and Shanghai World Financial Center with sample of the latter in hands. Far East Cable provided super high-rise building 10kV hoisting cable for the Shanghai World Financial Center, the longest of 708 meters, weighing up to 14 tons, lifting height from 131 to 400 meters, which have operated well for 10 years.

    At that time, it was the first time to install the high-rise building hoisting cable in such a tall building in the domestic and abroad construction of hanging construction through the horizontal section, vertical section, high-level horizontal section, and domestic cable industry had not hoisting cables technologies. Break the domestic technical barriers, which occurred to Jiang Xipei’s mind.

    However, at that time, investors of MORI Building Co., Ltd. preferred the Fujikura Cable Company"s technologies and intended to inport this batch of 10kV hoisting cable from Japan. The sudden news strengthened the faith to reaserch and develop hoisting cable, so he decided: The landmarks standing on the land of China must be equipped with Made-in-China cables.

    Despite obstacles through the way, Jiang Xipei, with the Far East Cable technology team, succeed in independent research and development of a new super high-rise building internal 10kV lifting cable for power supplication, in accordance with power supply design requirements, by breaking the traditional lifting force ,reducing the cable body weight and improving bending performance technologies,and passed the full performance test assessment, and ultimately obtained recognition of the investors and the constructors of the Shanghai World Financial Center. From beginning to end, it was patriotism that stimulated Jiang Xipei forward and toughened his original intentions for industry.

    In the speech, Jiang Xipei also said: "We need the world"s best raw and auxiliary materials, and gain better materials and technologies through year after year of continuous research and development as well as countless failures, pursuing the most advanced equipment. His craftmanship lies on the spirit that we should put quality first instead of earing money and stirve for excellent productions with wisdom.

    Years of experiences possess humans with a strong body. As a responsible enterprise, the layer of armor must be more solid to face the business storms. And the essence of the development of the Far East lies on the craftmanship deep in heart.
